We are glad to announce that work on our new, ceramic fountain pen is nearing its end.
We will present it in September. The long-awaited pen, the concept for which was inspired by musical instruments,
will be made entirely of glazed aluminium oxide.
Manufacturing such a pen involves a long and complicated technological process of isostatic forming of aluminium oxide powder,
turning, polishing, repeated firing
(the last one done in 1700 °C (3090 °F) degrees centigrade),
and then glazing and polishing again.
We started to work on this pen at the end of 2007. Since then, we have conducted many technological experiments in various ceramics workshops,
but to no avail.
It was only at the start of 2009 that we began to co-operate with the workshop,
in which we eventually succeeded in creating the pen.
This pen will feature a new custom-designed Wiland nib, which we have just finished working on.
Eighteen-carat, with a two-colored rhodium-plated drawing, it has already been manufactured
and will soon be presented on our website.
